I got my first bike when I was 4 years old. It was used and ugly green. My mom and I spray painted it yellow, added some streamers to the handlebars, and I took my first ride with the help of my Grandma holding the banana seat. I never had training wheels. I loved biking from that first ride!
I recently took a vacation with some friends to Jackson, Wyoming to mountain bike for 6 days. What a beautiful location to ride! We rode through bear country the first two days – no bears, just bugs. The next few days took us on trails that overlooked the “Hole”, or the whole area surrounding Jackson. The trails and views were spectacular, as was the weather.
As our trip concluded I couldn’t help but realize that in daily life – work, family, chores, exercise – sometimes we get in a rut. We enjoy what we’re doing, but do you really love it? I’ve missed my mountain bike – a lot!
A well balanced life should include doing things that you love. Take a mental health break and re-connect with doing something you love to do if you haven’t done so in awhile. It will refresh your outlook on life and give you something to look forward to doing again!
